大连理工大学宁波研究院是由大连理工大学、宁波市政府双方联合共建的独立法人事业单位，于2020年12月5日正式开园，现已建设精细化工与生物医药技术创新中心、高端装备与智能制造技术创新中心、新材料与成型技术创新中心、信息、软件与人工智能技术创新中心和重大基础设施建设技术创新中心五大创新中心，组建20个创新团队，集聚专兼职科研人员240余人。研究院围绕服务区域、服务产业、服务企业“三服务”，开展研发创新、人才培养、科技服务和产业培育等核心业务，研究院已获批国家自然科学基金依托单位、浙江省新型研发机构，并荣获2022年度宁波市新型研发机构十强的称号。

在数字经济领域，研究院秉持着“开放共创，携手共赢”的发展理念，围绕“智能制造、数字技术、智慧应用”三大领域，现已集聚工业装备智能化设计团队、智能图像分析团队、智能制造与机器人团队、智慧水务创新团队等多个数字经济领域一流团队，全面赋能宁波制造业数字化、智能化转型。

Ningbo Institute of Dalian University of Technology is an independent legal person institution jointly established by Dalian University of Technology and Ningbo Municipal Government, officially opened on December 5, 2020, and has built five innovation centers: fine chemical and biomedical technology innovation center, high-end equipment and intelligent manufacturing technology innovation center, new material and molding technology innovation center, information, software and artificial intelligence technology innovation center and major infrastructure construction technology innovation center, and set up 20 innovation teams. More than 240 full-time and part-time scientific researchers have gathered. Focusing on the "three services" of service area, service industry and service enterprise, the institute carries out core businesses such as R&D innovation, talent training, scientific and technological services and industrial cultivation, and the institute has been approved as a supporting unit of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a new R&D institution in Zhejiang Province, and won the title of Top Ten New R&D Institutions in Ningbo in 2022.

In the field of digital economy, the Institute adheres to the development concept of "openness and co-creation, win-win cooperation", and focuses on the three major fields of "intelligent manufacturing, digital technology and intelligent application", and has gathered first-class teams in the field of digital economy, such as intelligent design team of industrial equipment, intelligent image analysis team, intelligent manufacturing and robot team, and intelligent water innovation team, to fully empower the digital and intelligent transformation of Ningbo's manufacturing industry.
